Hutchinson Animal Shelter
Hutchinson Animal Shelter was established January 3, 2006 to provide sheltering services for the City of Hutchinson; file lost and found pet reports; a place to relinquish and/or adopt animals. The Hutchinson Animal Control responds to lost or found animals, animal bites, dogs running at large, barking dog complaints and reports of abuse, neglect or cruelty. Both are part of the City of Hutchinson and primarily funded thru them.
The shelter comfortably houses approximately 48 dogs and 44 cats. There is not a "set" length of time an animal will remain in the shelter; that is based on the animal's health, adoptability and if there is available kennel space. The shelter works hard to find homes. Before an adopted dog or cat leaves the animal shelter it is chipped and receives a variety of health services including:
Spay or Neuter
Heartworm testing/treatment and Preventative HeartGuard
Frontline prevention for fleas and ticks

Cause for Paws, Inc
Cause for Paws, Inc was established June 28, 2006 as a 50l(c)3 whose mission is to ensure the well-being of all cats and dogs, reducing pet overpopulation, building a strong base of advocates and supporting the Hutchinson Animal Shelter. We are only funded by memberships, grants, memorials, donations, co-pays, selling of merchandise and endowment gifts.
CFPI members support the Hutchinson Animal Shelter by transporting many animals to other shelters/rescues for a better chance at adoption, participate in adoption events and encourage donations (go the top of this page, select the "Ways to Give" tab, then click on Shelter Wish List). Many CFPI members are also shelter volunteers.
