WHAT IS WORLD SPAY DAY?
World Spay Day is a day to shine a spotlight on spay/neuter as a proven means of saving the lives of companion animals, feral cats, and street dogs who might otherwise be put down in a shelter or killed on the street.
World Spay Day provides a unique opportunity for everyone who cares about animals to join together toward a common goal —a comprehensive global, united effort to end the euthanasia and suffering of companion animals.
Past events have included low- and no-cost spay/neuter clinics, providing life-saving veterinary services for low-income families, fundraisers to benefit spay/neuter programs, and educational efforts spreading the message about the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
It's tragic that millions of animals suffer and die when such a simple solution is available. We can make the world a better place for us all. Be a part of the solution—promote spay/neuter!

The Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation recently awarded Cause for Paws, Inc., a $2,000 grant for support of STOP (Stop The Overpopulation of Pets), the organization’s spay/neuter assistance program.
“We’re very grateful for their support as we have many animal owners in need of spay/neuter assistance,” said Ardy Alexander, STOP Coordinator. “Spaying and neutering our animals is the only way we can ensure a reduction in the number of stray and unwanted pets. This award assists us tremendously in our work on behalf of all animals.”
Donations from community members and through grant awards have helped fund a portion of more than 1,000 spay and neuter procedures for dogs and cats in Reno County since STOPs inception in 2007.
